Thor Riders Impressive After Action-Packed Weekend of Racing

Another weekend of racing is in the books, and once again Thor riders were impressive across the country. Starting in Dallas, Texas, Thor rider Ryan Villopoto brought his win-streak to three as he dominated the main event at Cowboys Stadium. His fourth win of the season help him maintain the red number plate and a 13-point lead in the championship stands as the series heads to the halfway point in the season.

Teammate and Thor rider Jake Weimer put in 20-great laps to earn his second podium finish of the season in third place, while Brett Metcalfe showed his consistency with an eighth-place finish on a tough track. Thor's Broc Tickle continued to adjust to the supercross class, finishing 11th in the main event.

The Eastern Region of the AMA Supercross Lites class debuted in Dallas with Thor's Darryn Durham, Blake Baggett, and Cole Thompson racing for the first time this season. Newest member to the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team, Durham led the opening eight laps of the main event, eventually finishing with an outstanding second-place. Thompson also showed his speed in the 15-lap main event, finishing inside the top-10 in ninth. Baggett had an unfortunate opening lap crash, but even though he was a lap down on the opening lap, he was able to push his way up to 15th.

At the penultimate round of the AMA Arenacross Series, Jeff Gibson maintained his chance of a championship, finishing second during both Friday and Saturday's main events. While he is 24 points back, Gibson held off the points leader from clinching in Reno, Nev.

Greensboro, Ga. was host to the second round of the AMA National Enduro Series, and Cory Buttrick, Russell Bobbitt, Charlie Mullins, and Maria Forsberg all were faced with a challenging course on Sunday after rain drenched the area on Saturday night. The tough conditions seemed to be no match for Buttrick as his consistency led him to a second-place finish. Reigning champion Bobbitt also put together a great race, winning the third test on his way to fourth-place for the day. Mullins was en route to a great finishing position with three-test wins on the day, but a bike issue on the final test pushed him back to seventh. Maria Forsberg competed in her first AMA National Enduro on Sunday, winning every test in the Womens class on her way to victory.

The next AMA Supercross Series race is this weekend at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta, while the AMA Arenacross Series will compete for the final time this season at Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn. The AMA National Enduro Series will take a weekend off before the third round in Salley, S.C.
