Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Post-Race Report: Dallas
CORONA, Calif., (February 21, 2012) - A rainy Dallas was the site of Monster Energy Supercross this past Saturday. Fans came out in droves as the seventh round of the Supercross Class, and the first round of the Supercross Lites East Region, invaded Cowboys Stadium.
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki's newest team member, Darryn Durham, was ready to make his debut in Dallas. First-race jitters didn't seem to affect him, and he made a good showing in his Heat race. He was feeling good all night, and earned an impressive second-place finish in the Supercross Lites East Main.
"I got a really great start in the Main and led for 9 laps," said Durham. "I rode pretty tight up front, and ended up finishing 2nd. I got some good points to start the season off!"
After a great heat race, teammate Blake Baggett found himself in an early-race incident in the Supercross Lites East Main. He remounted his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki machine, and salvaged as many points as he could. He has regrouped, and is looking forward to bouncing back this Saturday in Atlanta.
Teammate Broc Tickle also had an interesting night. He ripped the holeshot in the Supercross Class heat, and ended up finishing third behind Monster Energy Kawasaki's Ryan Villopoto and Jake Weimer. His determination was put on display in the Main, as some slight mistakes sent him to the back of the pack. He put on an intense charge, and fought his way up to 11th.
"I finally got a holeshot in the heat, but I rode kind of tight. I got another great start in the Main, but made two big mistakes and I ended up in last. I worked myself up to 11th, though. I'm not pumped on my ride in the Main, but my starts were definitely where they needed to be."
Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki heads to the Georgia Dome in Atlanta for the second round of the Monster Energy Supercross Lites East Championship, and the eighth round of the Monster Energy Supercross Championship. Durham starts his season off in second overall, with 22 points in the Supercross Lites East Region, while Baggett heads to Atlanta in 15th, with 6 points. Tickle continues on in the Supercross class in 14th, with 54 points.
