Ben Spies re-wrote the record books to become the 2009 Superbike World Champion last Sunday at the final race in Portimão, Portugal. The Yamaha World Superbike Team rider earned 11 pole positions and 14 race wins, both new records for the series. Spies finished on the podium 17 times. He and his team combined talent, hard work and determination to earn Yamaha's first-ever FIM Superbike World Championship.
